Education
Dr. Stephanie Webster-Cheng, NCTM, enjoys an active career as an educator, collaborative pianist, and accompanist in Columbus, Ohio. Stephanie, an Interlochen Arts Academy alumni, graduated in 2000 from Lawrence University with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance.
She continued her training in ethnomusicology (the study of music and culture) at the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with a MA in 2003 and a PhD in 2008. Her piano teachers have included Dr. Michael Coonrod (Interlochen Arts Academy), Dr. Michael Kim (Lawrence University) and Dr. Anthony Padilla (Lawrence University).
Teaching
Stephanie has taught piano for over 20 years to students in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Ohio. She currently teaches students ages 5 and up in her home studio located in Upper Arlington, SWC Piano, LLC. Stephanie also teaches Music History at Columbus State Community College.
Professional Associations
Stephanie is an active member of the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC), the Central East District of the Ohio Music Teachers Association (CEOMTA) and the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). She is the Chair of the Donald Babcock Junior Composer's Contest (OFMC), Junior Day Competitions (OFMC), and a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM) through MTNA.
Musical Hobbies
When not teaching, Stephanie enjoys reading, performing collaboratively and composing fun new piano music for her students. Her piano compositions can be purchased at Sheet Music Direct.
